Past Life: I sold commercial real estate in New York and then got into the nightclub scene, which was getting really big in the ’80s and early ’90s. I had two clubs, The Crane Club on the Upper West Side and the Park Avenue Country Club on Park Avenue South. I learned a lot and had some ups and downs, but I loved the energy and vibe. Now, I’m happy to be home in St. Louis. I always tell my New York friends, when I’m there visiting, “I’m going back to my tribe.”
Favorite St. Louis Spots: Forest Park, the Mississippi River, lots of interesting off-the-radar restaurants.
Outfit: The suit is from Moods of Norway from 10denza, the shoes are Johnston & Murphy, and the belt is Lacoste.
Style Philosophy: A little bit of old and a little bit of new. I wear a lot of my father’s old things and vintage, and mix them with current things. I love the ’70s for the style, the fabrics, the music, and the freedom.
iPod Playlist: “Beautiful Day” by U2, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “Always on My Mind” by Pet Shop Boys, “Boogie Oogie Oogie” by A Taste of Honey, “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson.
Nickname: Happyfunfree—I like to provide happiness and fun for free, whether that means wearing fun clothes, making balloon animals for seniors, posting entertaining quips and commentary online. I’m all-in. I want people to feel happy when they see me. My motto is “Living, laughing, loving, and learning—excitement for any occasion or age.”
Way to Get Around: I’ve always had some version of scooter since I was in my teens. My friend, artist Kevin Glazer, painted my latest one—it looks like 21st-century street art. They are easier to handle than a motorcycle and a great way to flow with the world. Some people fly airplanes. I drive scooters.
