Joining other summer events, Blues at the Arch, produced by the Gateway Arch Park Foundation in partnership with the National Blues Museum and the National Park Service, will look a little different this year. For its fifth anniversary, the concert series—with performances every Friday in August—will be virtual.
The digital end-of-summer celebration will showcase local artists and pay tribute to St. Louis’ blues history. “Blues at the Arch has become a beloved event for us each year, where we invite folks to relax and picnic in Gateway Arch National Park,” Ryan McClure, executive director of Gateway Arch Park Foundation, said in a statement. “While we wish we could gather in the same way this year, we look forward to sharing the love and experience of blues music with our community in a new way.”
Featured artists include Kingdom Brothers, Uvee Hayes, Little Dylan and Carolyn Mason. Each performer represents not only the past but the future of blues in St. Louis. “Blues music is the heart of our city,” Erin Mahony, deputy director of the National Blues Museum said in the release.
Hayes is a crowd pleaser with more than 20 years of experience singing rhythm and blues, delta blues and Soul music. The Kingdom Brothers are a band that combines blues, R&B, and gospel influences into a powerful sound with a positive message. Also returning to the series are 19-year-old blues and soul prodigy Little Dylan and Carolyn Mason.
The Blues at the Arch entertainment schedule is as follows:
- August 7: Uvee Hayes
- August 14: Little Dylan
- August 21: Kingdom Brothers
- August 28: Carolyn Mason
All four live music events will stream free of charge on the Gateway Arch Park Foundation's website and Facebook page. More details about the artist and concerts will be posted closer to August.
