If you’ve ever dreamed of being a character in a novel—not counting the thinly veiled autobiographical novel in your hankie drawer, right? The St. Louis Public Library Foundation is raffling off a chance at just that. If you win, you have a chance to be mentioned as a character in the next book penned by James Patterson, Susan McBride, Angie Fox, Michael Kahn or Maxine Paetro, and the fifth runner-up gets Curtis Sittenfeld as guest at their next book club meeting. The tickets (which go for $25 a pop) get pulled November 14 at the library’s “Stranger than Fiction: A Novel Affair,” fundraiser at the Central Library, with proceeds going to the library’s $70 million restoration and expansion next year.
