Last night, the World Chess Hall of Fame previewed their upcoming exhibit, A Queen Within: Adorned Archetypes, Fashion, and Chess, at Christie's in New York City.
The exhibit, which opens at the World Chess Hall of Fame (4652 Maryland, 314-367-9243) on October 19, features rare fashion pieces inspired by the power and risk-taking qualities of the queen's evolving feminine roles in chess and society from one of the world's largest private collections of Alexander McQueen's work, along with garments by Valentino, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, and more.
Don't miss the photos in the September issue of St. Louis Magazine from St. Louis-raised and New York-based photographer Matthew Stacey.
