Whether you choose to go graphic with bold contrasting prints, or opt to keep the look streamlined with monochromatic elements, there’s no doubt fashion’s definitive “up-and-coming” color palette includes black, white, and red.
Charmed by Versace’s long sleeved pencil-dress (middle: $4,375, modaoperandi.com), I was over-the-moon to find a wearable (and affordable) take on the trend at What to Wear in Edwardsville (921 S. Arbor Vitae, Edwardsville, 618-655-0222). The flattering wrap dress (left: $128 by Donna Morgan) will undoubtedly be in heavy rotation during summer’s steamiest days and will effortlessly transform into a fall staple with the simple addition of a light cardigan or work-worthy blazer.
Also on my radar, but more for fall, is a daring, all red ensemble with touches of black and white, perhaps something like the amazing (stewardess inspired?) jacket and skirt (right) by Moschino for fall 2012.
Finally, what look would be complete without a pair of fabulous heels? I discovered these glam peep-toe platforms for just $48 at bellasjourneyboutique.com, an online-only shop owned by local resident KDaniele Brady.
