A '40s style perm was just one of the beauty ideas at this year's New York Fashion Week.

Amid the New York Fashion Week frenzy of debuting designs, street style queens, and celebrity sightings, it’s easy to forget about one very important Fashion Week element: beauty trends. From '40’s inspired perms to smoky, smoldering eyeliner, there were definitely noteworthy beauty trends that are sure to rule next season’s cosmetic must-haves. Breaking down four of my favorites, here are some of the best looks and the products that can help you achieve anything from this year’s perfect pout to the boldest brows.
1. Vibrant Smoky Cat Eye: Jason Wu
Maybe I’m partial to playful shadow tones thanks to my blue eyes, but the vibrantly colored smoky eye that rocked the Jason Wu runway works for all colors of the optical rainbow. Try YSL’s Dessin Du Regard Crayon Yeux Haute Tenue in Smoky Purple for the perfect purple cat eye.
2. Bold Brows: Helmut Lang
Bold brows continued to be a trend at NYFW. Helmut Lang highlighted unkempt brows with a smooth, polished complexion, sans bright shadows and lipsticks. Don’t be afraid to let your brows stand out this season with Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil.
3. 40’s Inspired Curls: Bottega Venta
Guido Palau was responsible for creating the '40’s inspired hair at Bottega Venta. Making quite a statement, and a true departure from traditional beach waves, the models at BV had a distinct retro aesthetic matched with classic makeup. Get these curls with Frederic Fekkai Perfectly Luscious Curls Curl Shaper Cream.
4. The Bordeaux Lip: Marni
After picking up some serious momentum on the red carpet and in the blogosphere, the bordeaux lip can now add catwalk to its repertoire of high-profile sightings. The deep red hue looks good on almost any skin tone. Just apply as needed depending on event, time of day, and complexion. Try Laura Mercier stick gloss in Black Orchid. It won’t disappoint.
