A new women’s clothing boutique recently opened in Webster Groves, although area shoppers may already be familiar with its location. Jennie Annie’s has new owners and a new name. It is now Toulon Boutique (102 W. Lockwood, 314-918-1008), a boutique inspired by the casual, fun atmosphere of the little French port from which it takes its name.
Toulon sells a variety of casual shoes, accessories, and apparel. Inventory includes brands such as Before and Again, Radzoli, Nikibiki, and OOFOS fitness recovery shoes. The shop also carries Omala and Twist, two lines of fitness apparel. In addition, Toulon sells jewelry by Monarch, an organization that donates its profits to fighting sex trafficking in the St. Louis metro area. There are also plans to carry a selection of formal dresses this fall.
“We’re a little more on the conservative side than Jennie Annie’s was,” says owner Julie Mangels. “But whether you are in your 20s or 90s, you can find something here. Our selection is more diverse, and we carry sizes all the way from XS to XL, which is hard to find.”
Julie and Larry Mangels purchased the boutique in April after talking about owning a business for a long time. Julie spent much of her career working in social services with adults with developmental disabilities, although she says she’s been selling clothes since she was 12. Larry, a native of St. Louis, has a background in finance and accounting.
Toulon is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. However, if you are unable to come by during regular hours, staff are happy to arrange appointments after hours.
