The Slaughter Project
We are so lucky to have dancer Alicia Graf in St. Louis; she's teaching at COCA right now, but she's also doing some dancing. (If you aren't familiar with Graf, here's an introduction courtesy of the Washington Post.) Take our word for it: don't miss any of her performances if you can help it!
Next month, the Alvin Ailey alumn will perform as a guest solo artist with Cecil Slaughter's dance collective, The Slaughter Project; the piece she's doing was choreographed by Ailey dancer Kirven Boyd. Also on the docket: the premiere of Leah Jordan's "Crossroad and Numb, a work that examines the lackluster routine of daily life;" Jun Cai's hip-hop influenced "With or Without"; Alicia William's "Emergence," which "pays homage to our newly elected president, Barack Obama"; plus Cecil Slaughter's "OverDrive," "Grid" and "Pulse," plus a new work, "Momentum." The performance is presented by ANNONYArts, formerly Gash/Voigt Dance Theater. --Stefene Russell
