So, I got a phone call a few weeks ago from the Orange Girls, who informed me that they were packin' it up for good after their next show. The company's named for the ladies who used to sell fruit outside the theaters during the Elizabethan era, when women were not allowed on the stage (female roles were played by guys in drag) and its mission was to produce shows with substantial roles for women actors, as well as provide opportunities for women lighting designers, directors, costume designers and the like. Having watched this company from its first season, as it produced challenging shows and stacked up the Kevin Kline nominations (and won some statues, too), it's a little sad to see it go. The Orange Girls' last show, Wonder of the World, opens later this month and runs through October. Details below; if you've never seen the Orange Girls on stage, this is your last opportunity! --Stefene Russell

Join the Orange Girls for our last hurrah as we present David Lindsay-Abaire's screwball comedy Wonder of the World.
When Cass walks out of her fairytale marriage to pursue the life she thinks she missed out on, she never expects to end up in the honeymoon capital of the world with a suicidal sidekick, a lonely boat captain, and a hapless pair of private detectives. As her slapstick journey of self-discovery takes one dizzying turn after another, Cass begins to realize that she alone will determine whether or not she gets her happy ending.
The stellar cast includes Orange Girls co-founder and Kevin Kline Award winner Brooke Edwards alongside Charlie Barron, Kirsten Wylder, Kelley Ryan, Greg Johnston, Mary Schnitzler and Actors’ Equity Association member and Kevin Kline Award winner Christopher Hickey. The production is directed by Deanna Jent.
