Sometimes it's not about what you put on your face, but how you take it off. Using the right eye-makeup remover isn't the same as picking the right face wash. Let's face it, foundation doesn't "stick" to your face like eye makeup. Finding a remover that is both gentle on your skin and tough on makeup can seem a bit daunting. Here are some of my best tips for finding some of the best (and knowing how to spot the worst) eye-makeup removers on the market.
1. Eye Makeup Remover Pads
They may seem easy to use and efficient, but take it from me, they're more pain than they're worth. In my experience, makeup remover pads have left my eyes burning and stinging thanks to high concentrations of alcohol. For those, like me, with sensitive skin, I don't think they're a good purchase, no matter how cheap they may be.
2. Clinique Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent
I love Clinique's Rinse-Off remover. It removes eye makeup from brows to lashes. Thanks to its oil-free formula, you never have to worry about any oily residue underneath your eyes. And for those hard to reach spots, dip a Q-tip into your remover bottle and gently swipe makeup off as needed. Sometimes I even dab a bit of remover on a Q-tip and separate my lashes when my mascara is a bit too heavy.
Unlike the pads, I have found much more success with the wipes. They don't wreak of rubbing alcohol, nor do they leave your eyes burning. You can even use them on your face for those nights when a full face wash isn't in the cards.
