Nothing to do on a Wednesday? Or even a Thursday? Me neither, at least later on in the evening. Summer is for staying out late on school nights, or at least it should be. The guys at Open Lot apparently agree, because they have some groovy events scheduled for the next coupla nights, including Krautrock and 80s horror movies under the stars:
Come out to Open Lot this Wednesday, 7/15, for more summer jams:
WET HAIR (Iowa City) - Two members of the legendary Iowa band Raccoo-oo-oon bring their drum + synth duo to town. "Cult electric gospel burning, flowing over layers of analog synth atmosphere and industrial trance punk" - Night People Records.
DEAD LUKE (Wisconsin) - Beats, vocals, distortion, and fun.
BIKINI ACID (St. Louis) - Propulsive Krautrock-inspired trio. Will rock yer socks!! Voted Best Experimental Act in the RFT's 2009 Music Awards.
DJ GHOST ICE will be manning the decks and shaking your rump between sets.
8:30ish PM $5 (it all goes to the touring acts) BYOB @ Open Lot (1310 South 18th Street, St. Louis, MO 63104

And, on Thursday the 16th, come out for the second installment of The Camp Open Lot Summer Film Series, curated by KDHX's Grace Woodard and Michael Sandler. BYO Lawn chair or sleeping bag (and maybe a hockey mask) for two 80's horror cult classics, both set at summer camp, of course:
