Suit: Navy blue or black, usually with an open collar. The most important thing is how it fits. Find a tailor that cuts clothing to fit your body type. Shoes: The classic look of John Lobb can’t be beat. They say they will last a lifetime. Watch: In my opinion, a watch is the only thing resembling jewelry that a man should wear. I wear a Rolex every day, but if I could choose only one watch, it would be the classic Cartier tank watch. It looks equally great with jeans or a tuxedo. Luggage: While it may be next to impossible to detect on the baggage carousel, anything black helps disguise the abuse of travel. Cuff links: Sometimes, though usually with a tie. Moisturizer: Elemis, oil-free with sunscreen. Coffee maker: A French press pot. Flower arrangement: I love white flowers, lots and lots of them. I usually do my own arrangements because I find it therapeutic. But if I do order the arrangement, I like the work of Jeana Reisinger or Tony Montano. Home accessory: A soft throw, because my house is always freezing. Guests love my throws. Sheets and bedding: I think the most luxurious sheets are from Olatz Schnabel, the supermodel wife of artist/film director Julian Schnabel. She has the most unusual color combinations that are at once soothing and arresting. Stationery: I’ve used the same block-style monogram from Tiffany & Company for 25 years. They keep the dye forever. Make mine white. Furniture studio: Well, mine, of course. Artist: I collect contemporary art, though if I were to choose one artist, it would have to be Michelangelo. Not only was he one of the world’s greatest painters and sculptors, he was also one of the most prolific architects of his time. Local charity: Any organization that offers food service or housing assistance would have to be at the top of my list. Restaurant: I’ve been going to Bar Italia for 25 years. Cocktail: Vodka. Isn’t it a food group? The perfect weekend: Staying home and entertaining friends; the staying home part is rare for me. Necessary extravagance: Fresh flowers, always and forever. Discovery: Serving dinner at home is grand.
