BEHIND THE BASH
“Many people get intimidated when they walk into a gallery,” says Melloy. “There’s an intellectual stigma.” That’s why later this month, Melloy and her two co-chairs will try to make art more accessible with the Dada Bash, an after-party for the Dada Ball at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (3750 Washington, 314-535-4660). The bash, which takes place around Jeremy Deller’s “Joy in People” exhibit, is set to include a fashion show, a silent auction, and cocktails. Melloy hopes it will show that contemporary art doesn’t need to be taken so seriously.
