Streetballersposter
We'd like to thank our Wednesday guest bloggers, Matt Krentz, Craig Thomas and Patrick Rooney, the producers of Streetballers, who, for nearly two months, have given us a behind-the-scenes look to all the hard work leading up to their St. Louis premiere. If you're coming in cold, go here for last week's post, and find the whole series here.
Streetballers had a successful opening weekend: it ranked 7th for ALL films nationwide for per-screen average ($5,791.00), just behind major-motion pictures Inglourious Bastards and District 9. It also had the 3rd highest per-screen average, nationally, for an independent film (and the top two were released by major distributors). So we were the number one purely independently distributed film in the U.S. Attendance was strong, and Wehrenberg Ronnie’s 20 Cine & Landmark’s Tivoli Theatre in the U City Loop will be carrying over the film! (Go here for show times.)
For an independent film this is truly amazing. Last Thursday’s star-studded VIP premiere -- followed by an off-the-chain after-party -- led us into our great opening weekend. We are feeling good about the unity and excitement that Streetballers continues to create.
Tonight (August 26th) we're having two special-event screenings at The Tivoli in The Loop at 7 and 9:40 pm, featuring appearnaces by Yung Ro and Shorty Da Prince, two of St. Louis’ top rap artists (who are also featured on the film's soundrack). And tomorrow, Thursday August 27th, the Tivoli's sponsoring Forest Park Community College night for the 7 pm screening. But there is a lot more work to be done. We're calling on all of St. Louis to turn out all week long by buying tickets at Ronnie’s 20 Cine in South County and Landmark’s Tivoli Theater in the U City Loop -- the fuller the theater, the longer Streetballers stays on the screen. You can get your tickets at the theater, or preorder them off our site. Aand as we wrap up here, note that you can keep following our progress there at our site, and for for up-to-the-minute news, you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter. --Matt Krentz, Craig Thomas and Patrick Rooney
