Spring is here, and with it has come a flurry of fashion activity at area boutiques. During the last few weeks, several boutiques have introduced fresh lines and brands that are perfect for warmer weather. Here are a few of our favorites:
After introducing Urban Lace jewelry this month, The Clover (8150 Big Bend, 314-467-0436) has already had to place a second order. This eco-friendly line out of Portland, Ore., consists of earrings and bracelets made from recycled bicycle inner tubes and colorful ultra microfiber. Jen Rieger, co-owner of The Clover, calls the handmade lacework pieces “fun and edgy.” The jewelry is priced between $25 and $30, and Urban Lace donates a portion of its yearly proceeds to an environmental education group.
Paperdolls Boutique (110 E. Jefferson, 314-965-3655; 14418 Clayton, 636-527-3655) recently rolled out Lil’ Dolls, a Paperdolls mini-me collection for children. Lil’ Dolls comes in sizes 4-12 and includes items like peasant tops, maxi skirts, palazzo pants, and leggings in fashionable prints that coordinate with the women’s collection. The idea behind the line is to create a fun shopping experience for both mothers and daughters. Lil’ Dolls is available at both Paperdolls locations, and items are priced between $25 and $35.
This season, 10denza (44 Maryland Plaza, 314-361-1010) welcomed BucketFeet Artist Designed Footwear, a Chicago-based brand that was launched in Spring 2011. BucketFeet collaborates with a different artist to design each pair of canvas shoes. So far, the company says it has worked with 75 artists from 21 countries, from street artists in Bogota to graphic designers in New York. 10denza owner Chris Lanter says he was drawn to “the designs and comfort of their lace-ups and slip-ons.” The store carries BucketFeet shoes for men, women, and children. Prices range from $45 to $68.
