One of the salient trends we spotted at New York Fashion Week for spring was the pointy-toe flat.
In addition to comfort, the pointy-toe shape flatters the leg and gives the illusion of an elongated silhouette. While the classic rounded toe and ballet flats continue to be in style, this sophisticated rendition is uber-feminine with a fashion-forward edge. Designers reimagined this ladylike must-have for spring with the addition of grommets, bows, polka dots, and animal prints, giving the flats a whimsical feel.
Spring/summer runway collections stepped out in style in support of this trend, both in evening and daytime wear. Oscar de la Renta featured sleek and embellished pointy-toe flats with exquisite floral appliques, and Dolce and Gabbana followed suit with demure gold and bow-adorned versions. Miu Miu’s tuxedo-inspired version would augment a tailored suit for the office, as would Narcisco Rodriguez’s minimalist, nude, strappy version.
Utilitarian and effortlessly chic, this au courant wardrobe staple works all four seasons of the year. What’s not to love?
