One of the bombshell color trends for spring and summer 2014 is fiery orange. From lipstick hues to ferocious heels and handbags, this vibrant shade was all over ready-to-wear shows. Fashion experts claim “orange is the new black,” and we can’t disagree.
During fashion week, there were many avid proponents of this color palette. Costello Tagliapietra featured tangerine day dresses and pantsuits on the catwalk; Christian Siriano used poppy and red-orange floral motifs. DKNY runway shows were also peppered with cayenne-hued flirty frocks and bold, vivid pops of neon orange on the models’ lips. Show-stopping evening wear looks weren’t exempt from the trend: Monique Lhuillier featured voluminous ballgown skirts and strappy, sky-high heels, proving the color can even make a statement at cocktail hour. Even handbag connoisseur Rebecca Minkoff didn’t disappoint with a panoply of warm, sunshine shades showcased in her totes and satchels. Tracy Reese, Jenny Packham, and Zac Posen also followed suit with their color-saturated collections.
Say goodbye to the whiter shades of pale and hello to this outrageous, universally flattering shade. Whether it’s a swimsuit, cocktail dress, or pair of pumps, there is no better color than orange this season to freshen up, enliven, and brighten your wardrobe.
