While here in the St. Louis area we are just beginning to brace ourselves for winter’s impending cold, global tastemakers are already busy determining next spring’s "it" colors. Spring 2012 runways saw an abundance of crisp whites, icy shades of blue, and cool minty greens, including many looks from fashion’s major players, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
At Chanel (two left images), the “under the sea” theme lent itself well to aquatic-inspired blue tones and paired nicely with sandy shades of pink and peach. The feel was ladylike with sexy detailing that included short hemlines and sheer fabrics.
At the Louis Vuitton show (two right images), the look was every bit as prim and perhaps a tad more proper, as longer hemlines were decidedly modest on most ensembles. Ultra-feminine detailing such as eyelet and feathers prevailed, as did organza—yet another emerging trend for spring 2012. Marc Jacobs, known not only for his amazing designs but also his own personal sense of style, greeted guests in head-to-toe white, reinforcing the cool crisp color trend.
