SEE Eyewear (1155 St. Louis Galleria #1134, 314-721-4065) opened its doors in the Galleria this month, bringing the company’s “hip without the rip” philosophy to needy eyes around the St. Louis area. The store features SEE’s exclusive and eclectic collection of luxury eyewear, which represents Europe's top designers.
This season, SEE’s shelves are full of transparent frames in blush and nude tones—including champagne, rose, and honeydew hues—which were popular on the runway this spring. You’ll also find colorful tortoise frames for women and bold matte finishes for men. In addition, SEE carries frames in alternative materials like titanium and wood. Glasses start at $169 for the frame and single-vision plastic or polycarbonate lenses.
SEE also offers a wide variety of stylish sunglasses. There are nearly 40 lens options from which to choose, including solid, gradient, and double gradient tints and mirror coats.
The store can accommodate both prescription and non-prescription orders, and there is a resident doctor who offers comprehensive eye exams. SEE also accepts many types of insurance.
The Galleria location is SEE’s first store in Missouri: “St. Louis has always been on our ‘hot list’ because of its pockets of sophisticated and trendy shoppers. The fact that SEE offers the first true value for high fashion eyewear is a perfect match,” says vice president of marketing Susan Berryman.
SEE Eyewear, which was founded by D.O.C. owner Richard Golden, opened its first location in Birmingham, Mich., in 1998. Since then, the company has grown to 26 stores nationwide, making it the largest optical boutique retailer in the country. SEE has won reader polls for best eyewear in several major cities, and its frames have appeared in magazines such as Vogue, InStyle, Elle and GQ.
