I was bummed that I couldn't make it down to Powell Hall for SLSO's Town Hall Meeting to announce its upcoming season (the rumor was that the RSVPs were through the roof.) If you, too, missed this event, check out SLSO's season highlights, and the symphony's schedule for 2009-2010. I saw that Doctor Atomic Symphony is scheduled for 2010, huzzah! Though I was in Powell for its debut here, I hadn't heard Adam's opera yet, which predates the symphony; they broadcast The Met's performance of it on KWMU a few weeks ago, and I already feel like I'd be better able to appreciate the symphonic version after hearing it sung (I didn't even get to hear the whole thing, though luckily I did catch the aria at the end of Act I. Which is stunning. I plan on picking up the DVD, hopefully sooner rather than later.)
