Don’t know what to do with that broken bracelet, lone earring, or dated piece of costume jewelry? Turn old jewelry you no longer wear into something new with a "Revamp" class at Charm Boutique (7312 Manchester, 314-588-8203) in Maplewood. You’ll be amazed at the unique items you can create.
Designer Katie Miller from Scarlett Garnet Jewelry helps participants restring, renew, and repurpose old jewelry by taking it apart and combining it with other pieces to make one-of-a-kind items. “It is something different to do with your mom or girlfriends,” says Charm Boutique owner Kari Kraichely. “You may have just one earring. You can’t make another one exactly like it, but you can take pieces off of it to make something great that you can wear every day.”
Gather a group of three to six people and make an appointment for a "Revamp" class. Classes take two to three hours and cost $35 per person, which includes tools and other pieces to use. No skill is required. Charm Boutique has held more than 20 of these classes since the program’s inception several years ago.
Also, don’t miss Charm Boutique’s annual warehouse sale going on now. Overstock, past lines, and other items from 17 of the shop’s 50 designers are marked down 40 to 90 percent, with new items appearing every day. Some of the fantastic finds include 70 percent off Jewelry by Kari, $5 headbands from Just Liv, and garments from Penny Rae Vintage starting at $39. The sale runs through Sunday.
