A defined waist and voluminous silhouette were both major themes for Resort 2013. At Christian Dior, peplum made a few appearances, most notably in slick leather, and at Chanel it was all about lady-like skirts with just enough “pouf” to suit the mainstream.
In stark contrast was the return of true-blue denim, or at least it’s more upscale cousin, chambray. Chambray was seen at both Chanel and Gucci—each with its own distinctive take on the trend. Gucci’s incarnation (above left), was long, lean and 70’s-inspired, while at Chanel (above right) the look was decidedly more ornate. Dsquared (above middle) came in somewhere in the middle with more than enough fun and wearable little jackets to keep you plenty warm mid-flight. Their modern take on the 90’s supermodel (think Linda and Naomi) took us back to the days when fashion was about being fun, glamorous, and a little naughty. You can view the complete collection here.
