For whatever reason (I'm not complaining) St. Louis is a magnet for talented graphic novelist types. One of my favorite local comic artists is the Harvey Award-winning Matt Kindt, whose work has the artful, whimsical feel of Windsor McKay or Hergé, but is also addictively plot-driven, like mainstream comics.
So pleased as punch to get this update from Mr. Kindt this A.M.:
"My new book 3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man is finished. You can read more about it and pre-order HERE. It will be in stores on September 23.
You can also check out previews of 3 Story art and interviews at my blog HERE.
Also it's in the Diamond Previews catalog in the Dark Horse section if you want to have your local comic shop order it.
Super Spy was in GQ Magazine last month as one of the "20 Graphic Novels You Should Read (After Watchmen)" and made Wizard Magazine's "Best 100 Graphic Novels of Our Lifetime" list in the June issue. Super Spy, as well as all of my previous books are also available along with cyanide breath mints and original art HERE."
And, near the end of the email, more good news:
"It's going to be an exciting 2009-2010 -- as I've got at least 3 new full length books coming out between now and next fall." Huzzah! Lookin' forward to it. --Stefene Russell
