2720 Cherokee, a joint project of ArtDimensions and Loyal Family, is up and running! From the horse's mouth:
"2720 Cherokee – a place for music, art, shopping, events, parties, socializing, drinking, relaxing, learning, expressing and more. With two levels and over 14,000 sq. ft. of space, there is plenty of room for projects and events of all sizes and shapes. 2720 will host both private and public events including concerts, charitable happy hours, art openings, open gallery/shopping hours, arts education classes and much more."
They've got some great stuff coming up, including a show from experimental jazz ensemble Jeff Coffin and the Mu'tet on January 22 and Talking Heads tribute band, This Must Be The Band on January 30. ArtDimensions gives a sneak peek of their first official gallery space (after embodying the term "movable feast," for several years) on January 29. "The Square Foot Show," features over 100 12x12 works in a variety of media, and is shown with the work of photographer Brit Tate, in her first solo exhibition.
Foam has also opened and hit the ground running, with lots of great shows on the docket. You can see the January lineup here, on the Cherokee Street News site. I'll have another important Cherokee-related post up next week, so stay tuned for that. --Stefene Russell
