Three members of BandTogether, St. Louis' GLBTA marching band, will join the Lesbian and Gay Band Association to perform at Barack Obama's inaugural parade on January 20th. As their press release notes, BandTogether performed at both of former President Bill Clinton's inaugurations; however, this is the first time that a GLBTA group has marched in a Presidential inagural parade.
A snippet from the press release:
"The 177-piece LGBA band will join groups from across the country as well as from the Armed Forces in the historic parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, which follows President-elect Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the Capitol. Representing BandTogether will be Lawrence Miskel from St. Louis on flute, Fred Isom-Redmond from University City, who will serve as the co-captain of the color guard, and Robb Blackwell from St. Louis on Tenor Sax. Blackwell is also the LGBA vice-president, co-chair of the LGBA Inaugural Committee, and BandTogether’s current president."
Congrats, guys!
