With an ever-changing floor full of chevrons, Aztec motifs, and other patterns, MOD, a new fashion boutique in O’Fallon, Mo. (2307 Highway K, 636-272-1191), is serious about prints.
MOD first opened just six months ago in Edwardsville, Ill. (871 Arbor Vitae, 618-659-9797), as a place where women of all ages could find affordable, fashion-forward items. Nothing in the store costs more than $60, and accessories start at just $4.
On November 1, MOD’s second location officially opened in O’Fallon. Both locations carry the same merchandise.
“I thought St. Louis was lacking somewhere where women of all ages could shop at great price points,” says MOD co-owner Lauren Gaska. “I travel literally everywhere, to every large city, to choose the best of the best. I’m always reading magazines and looking at what celebrities are wearing.”
MOD is owned by Marta Gaska and her daughters Lauren Gaska and Tania Rakel, the same trio that owns Marta’s Boutique. Marta Gaska started Marta’s Boutique more than 30 years ago, and since then fashion has become a family affair.
MOD carries more than 300 brands and receives only one size run per item, so its merchandise is constantly changing. Lauren Gaska says the merchandise in the two stores turns over every week.
“In O’Fallon, we’ve had repeat customers every day because there’s always something new,” she says.
This weekend, November 8-10, visit either location for the Mom & Me Plus MOD Weekend, a three-day event that Lauren Gaska says will celebrate “the bond between mother and daughter.” There will be giveaways, door prizes, and cupcakes.
MOD is open 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–5 p.m. on Sunday. Closed Monday.
