Jenna Fischer is headed back to her hometown.
The Office star and St. Louis native will speak at an event on Monday, April 16 at the Ethical Society of St. Louis for an author event hosted by Left Bank Books. She'll sign and discuss her new book, The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide.
(Although the event is already "at capacity" with RSVPs, hopeful attendees can still sign up for the waitlist.)
Before landing her iconic role of Pam Beasley on The Office, which ran for nine seasons on NBC, Fischer struggled in the entertainment industry for nearly a decade. Her book candidly and hilariously dishes on that period of her life, while also relaying tips for hopeful actors, like how to avoid scams and tricks to good auditions. There's even a fun foreword by her Office co-star Steve Carell.
Another beloved St. Louis-bred actor even sang the book's praises.
"I loved reading Jenna's honest and sincere appraisal of the actualities of breaking into, finding one’s way, and then thriving in this business," Jon Hamm said in a testimonial. "I hope it is given out as a guidebook of sorts to any young actor when they land at LAX."
Fischer is a Nerinx Hall High School graduate, and she earned a theater degree from Truman State University. You can see her in her next starring role on the ABC sitcom Splitting Up Together, which premieres on Tuesday, March 27.
