I want to take a break from the mayhem of Milan Fashion Week for a hot second to focus on something with a little more substance (both literally and figuratively). Our own Karlie Kloss, who is fast becoming a household name and whose face you may recognize from ballet class, the supermarket or a recent Vogue cover, recently branched out into philanthropy. The 20-year-old glamazon, famous in the industry for bringing home-baked cookies to photo shoots and fittings, partnered with FEED Projects (http://feedprojects.com) and Momofuku Milk Bar (http://milkbarstore.com/) to raise money for hungry children the world over. Called the “Perfect 10 Kookie”, the gluten-free, agave-flavored treat provides ten school lunches with its sale. They’re produced in Brooklyn, NY, and by October 1, will be available on Momofuku’s website for national and international sale.
In a field more famous for its divas, Karlie stands out as a genuine sweetheart, and whenever I have spoken to her, on the street or backstage at shows, she is unfailingly polite, perky and a champion of her hometown. We raise ‘em well here; now let’s help Karlie reach her goals of changing the world—and get dessert in the process.
