How did the first lady choose the one-shoulder white gown by Jason Wu to don at the Inaugural Ball? Turns out, she has her sources. Ikram Goldman, owner of the Ikram Boutique in Chicago has been helping wardrobe Ms. Obama as of late. He asked Wu (among others) to whip up a dress for a formal occasion - no mention of who it was for or where it would be worn. Wu had a feeling it may be a request from the president-elect's beautiful wife. He worked day and night to finish the gown by mid-December. What a surprise - even he did not know it was chosen until Ms. Obama walked out for the first time on Tuesday evening. But don't expect this frock in Wu's next collection, it is a one-of-a-kind that will be donated to the Smithsonian and stand among previous first ladies' inaugural gowns.
