The possibilities are endless when it comes to nail art. But sometimes translating a playful design onto your own nails isn’t as easy as it looks. Taking one of my personal favorite designs, the evil eye, and combining it with a few fun nail art techniques, I have finally found an easy at-home nail art design that’s as trendy as it is chic. Here’s a quick guide for getting this fun and fresh manicure.
Step 1:
Whether you prefer to have them done or do them yourself, file your nails down in a square shape. Remember your base and top coats and pick a neutral tone color that will allow the evil eye to pop once you’ve painted it on your nail. You could do a bright color, but for a chicer effect, neutral is best. Despite its name, Essie’s Fed Up is a color you can’t get enough of.
Step 2:
Once your nails are pretty and manicured, use white nail polish, Blanc by Essie is a great option, and paint a full moon shape at the base of your nails. To help keep the shape consistent, cut a small half circle (consistent with the size of moon shape you prefer) on a sheet of paper and place over your nail. Paint the moon shape using the cut or portion of the paper as your guide.
Step 3:
Once the white polish has dried it’s time to create the evil eye. Pick your favorite shade of blue. I love Essie’s Mesmerized, it’s a beautiful cobalt that’s sure to stand out in this manicure’s otherwise neutral color palette. Paint a dot in the middle of each white moon shape. Make sure the dot isn’t too small as you still need to add a “pupil” to your evil eye. Let dry.
Step 4:
The final, and easiest step, paint a tiny black dot in the center of each blue dot. Essie’s Licorice is a great deep shade of black that will make the evil eye pop!
