As we mentioned earlier this week, the Southern Graphics Council's annual printmaking conference is being held in St. Louis March 16 through 19, and there is an awful lot of printmaking stuff going on as a consequence, ranging from print-related art exhibits to parties to weddings. (I'll explain that in a moment.) And printmaker Tom Huck, proprietor of Evil Prints (814 Vandeventer) is throwing something called "Hell Week," 6 days of "bad-ass alternative evening printertainment during SGC 2011 St. Louis." It kicks off Monday, March 14 and runs all the way through March 20 (cause the last event is scheduled on Saturday, but runs till 3 a.m.) Here's the lineup:
Monday, March 14
Tom Huck’s Evil Prints presents Artist in Residence, Artemio Rodriquez, March 14-20. Open Shop all week long at Evil Prints
Thursday, March 17
The Grudge Match: The Dirty Printmakers vs. the Bastards of Printmaking, 9 p.m. at Evil Prints
Friday, March 18
The Super-Secret, Ultra Private Outlaw Printmakers Reunion, 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Elvis Room at Blueberry Hill, 6504 Delmar
Saturday, March 19
The Return of the Outlaws opening reception, 6-8 p.m., Philip Slein Gallery, 1319 Washington
Tom Huck: Brutal Truths opening reception, 6-8 p.m. at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art, 3663 Lindell
The Printbanger’s Ball, 9 p.m.-3 a.m., Atomic Cowboy, 4140 Manchester
The other date to keep in mind is March 18, when Cherokee Street will have about, oh, I don't know, 4,000 things going on, including a "Printa Kucha" at the Casa Loma Ballroom and the "Blessed Unions Wedding Performance Ceremony," at Fort Gondo (3151 Cherokee), where "printmakers Blake Sanders and Hannah March Campbell will present a wedding performance ceremony, taking vows to each other and to the printmaking lifestyle." All the details are posted at Cherokee Street News.
