The Grove is gearing up for Grove Fest 2012, its seventh annual street party on Saturday, October 6. Between 2 and 11 p.m. the district is hosting an eclectic mix of live music, street performers, shopping, a fashion show, and even a mustache competition.
The Grove Fest Fashion Corner is returning again this year, setting up shop at the intersection of Manchester and Kentucky Ave. The corner will feature a unique outdoor Pop-Up Shop, which will sell clothing and accessories from local designers, as well as a DIY Corner with fun projects by City in a Jar and Jipsi Boho Living. The DIY Corner runs from 2 to 6 p.m.
“The Pop-Up Shop is a unique concept we’re super proud of,” said Lindsay Pattan, Fashion Corner organizer and co-owner of Miss Ohio Vintage. “Attendees can shop all designers and participants at once in the comfort of a wide open, boutique-esque space.”
Then at 7 p.m., the work of the designers from the Pop-Up Shop will be featured in the free Fashion Corner Runway Show. Look for the latest apparel and accessories from Mary Jane’s, Devil City, Blue Bird Apparel, Miss Ohio Vintage, BelleStyle Bijoux, T. Linelle Huston, CW Couture, and Haus by Sierra Moses.
Those interested in a VIP fashion show experience can purchase tickets for the VIP Lounge, which will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. The lounge includes runway-side seating, an open bar, readings from the (mis)fortune teller Kelsey McClure, and door prizes. Guests can sample food from Mama Gusto’s Pizzeria, waffles from Melt, and cupcakes from Piece, Love & Vegan. VIP tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and 50 percent of the ticket price goes back to the Grove neighborhood.
This year’s Grove Fest promises to be a day of food, fun, and fashion for all those who support the Grove.
