Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Juicy Couture. These are just a few of the designers that will be represented at Old Bags 2012, an annual fundraiser benefitting the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition. From 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, attendees will enjoy great drinks, delicious food, and a ballroom full of designer handbags at the Frontenac Hilton Hotel (1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd., 314-993-1100).
There will be hundreds of new or gently used handbags up for grabs at Old Bags. Bid on more than 300 bags in the silent auction, or purchase one of the 50 "Buy Now" bags on-the-spot for $35 each. In addition, 100 mystery bags will be available that include an extra surprise, such as a gift certificate or a piece of jewelry. But the star of the show is a caramel-colored Prada Saffiano Lux tote that comes with the new fragrance, Prada Candy. This beautiful bag, which was donated by Neiman Marcus, is valued at more than $1,600 and will be raffled off during the evening. Raffle tickets are $25 each, or five for $100.
But Old Bags is about more than designer handbags. Proceeds from the event allow the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition, a non-profit that seeks and supports foster/adoptive homes, to continue programs like Extreme Recruitment, 30 Days to Family, and 24/7 crisis intervention.
“This funding literally creates miracles by helping us find forever families for the hardest-to-place children and youth growing up in foster care,” says director of development Debbie Genung.
So, sip those signature martinis, enjoy delicious chocolates provided by Lake Forest Confections, and shop for gorgeous handbags while supporting a good cause.
Tickets to Old Bags are $75 each. VIP tickets, which include perks like early check-in and express pay, are also available this year for $250. To buy tickets, click here.
