Award season is officially upon us, and that means time for red carpet trend-watching. From barely-there makeup to cool coifs, Golden Globe beauty took a turn for decidedly delicate and feminine beauty. Here are some highlights from Sunday’s red carpet and the looks that are sure to set beauty trends all season long.
Barely There
From lips to eyes, nude hues were found on everyone from silver-screen veteran Julia Louis-Dreyfus to supermogul Heidi Klum. Lips especially stayed barren with little more than sheer gloss defining actresses lips. Even the eyes were understated. Save for liner, eye shadows stayed neutral, a definite departure from the usual dramatic makeup found on the red carpet. Want to recreate Heidi’s barely-there lip? Check out MAC’s Tinted Lipglass in Myth for an illustrious shine you’ll love.
Rosey Red
Not everyone played into the nude lip trend. Rashida Jones, Taylor Swift and Drew Barrymore added a pop of color to their looks with coral and bright red lip hues. Perfect for picking up color in their otherwise fresh faces, coral and red lips are sure to make a statement this spring both on and off the red carpet. Looking for a great shade of coral? Maybelline’s Coral Crush is sure to make a statement.
Side Effect
With middle parts taking over runway, red carpet, and streetstyle for the past several seasons, it was quite refreshing to see a shift back to the middle part. Reese Witherspoon rocked a side part with her blunt bangs front and center while Kaley Cuoco went for a deep side part and simple, straight hairstyle. Sleek and sophisticated, this look can be worn day and night and takes little more than parting your hair in alignment with the middle of your eye for a balanced look.
Curled Coifs
Not all red carpet sirens went for a casual cool hairstyle. Julie Bowen and Minnie Driver went for formal up-dos that not only showed off their beautiful bone structures, but also their gorgeous curls. A great look for thin and thick hair types alike, I can see this trend catching on with brides, prom queens, and fashionistas.
