Jonathan Franzen has a new piece in MIT's Technology Review. Though it is nestled among scientific reportage (including a rather charming profile of a Champaign-Urbana researcher named Nicholas Fang, who has developed silvered "superlenses" which allow one to peep inside a cell) it is purely literary, grappling with larger human issues via ruminations on the cell phone. You can read it here, after registering (it's free) using the pseudonym and/or faux email of your choice. —Stefene Russell
