Some of St. Louis’ best artists and crafters will come together for a unique shopping event this holiday season at the Artropy Craft Show. Artropy 2013 will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7 at the Regional Arts Commission (6128 Delmar) on The Loop.
More than 30 vendors will set up shop to showcase handmade art, jewelry, fashion accessories, sewn fabric wares, and more. All of the vendors are located within 50 miles of St. Louis, and all sell items that are either handmade or vintage.
Among the items that will be available are sterling silver and glass jewelry pieces by Irie’ Elements, handmade chocolates by Oh Sheila! Chocolates, and hand-folded Japanese Kanzashi hair accessories by Scarlett and Maria. With an eclectic array of crafters all in one place, Artropy provides the opportunity to shop a variety of locally made, one-of-a-kind gifts for all those hard-to-shop-for people on your list.
“We jury our vendors,” says event co-organizer and DownZipper Sewing creator Bobbi Nesladek, “and we are sure to keep the craft categories equal and fair, meaning we limit the number of talents in jewelry, knitting, silk-screening, pottery, etc.”
Artropy started in 2008 with a small group of Etsy crafters and has grown every year. Event organizers seek to create a relaxing atmosphere.
This year, complimentary beer, wine, and soda will be available, and Piccione Pastry will be giving away samples and coupons to use at the bakery down the street. The event benefits Tenth Life Cat Rescue, which will be on-site with adoptable cats. Admission is free.
