Target’s new design partnership, The Shops at Target, debuted this month, making boutique design available without the boutique price tag. Through this ongoing program, the company partners with a variety of specialty shops from around the country to craft unique, limited-edition collections for customers. The first flight of five collections is currently available in stores and online. There are nearly 400 items total, which range in price from $1 to $159.99.
The lucky shops chosen this spring include Miami Beach’s luxury fashion boutique The Webster, Connecticut’s home decor shop Privet House, San Francisco’s confectionery The Candy Store, Aspen’s cosmetic shop Cos Bar and Boston’s pet products store Polka Dog Bakery. Each one brings its unique aesthetic to Target’s racks and shelves.
“The Webster collection for Target is my wardrobe. It’s all the pieces that I own and that I like the most,” said The Webster co-owner Laure Heriard-Dubreuil during an interview about the new program.
The owners of these five eclectic stores found inspiration for The Shops at Target collections in unusual places. Heriard-Dubreuil and co-owner Milan Vukmirovic, two friends from the Paris fashion industry, incorporated The Webster’s signature wallpaper into the banana-leaf print found on many of their items. The two also found inspiration in the Miami Beach Art Deco district. Cos Bar owner Lily Garfield was inspired by her store’s wrapping paper, which was transformed into the leopard print found on many of the beauty tools and cosmetic bags.
A new collection of more than 230 items will be available in the fall. Look for apparel and home collections from New York’s Kirna Zabete and Odin, San Francisco’s The Curiosity Shoppe, and Boston’s PATCH NYC. Items will be available in all Target stores and at Target.com on Sept. 9.
