Red was all over runways for fall, so it was only natural that some of Hollywood’s hottest leading ladies would be sporting the trend for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, which aired on Sunday. Standouts included Kate Winslet, who wore a beautiful and understated gown by Elie Saab. Kate always looks meticulous, but this color in particular brought her flawless porcelain complexion to life.
Nina Dobrev, star of “The Vampire Diaries” looked smashing in a classic gown designed by Donna Karan. The sweetheart neckline and simple choker read very Old Hollywood, however, combined with a killer curves and a show-stopping pose, the fashion newbie really established herself as one to watch, especially on the red carpet.
Our last lady in red, Lea Michele, was the topic of much online fashion debate. Her vibe was much more America’s sweetheart than sexy screen siren, which left some critics (including E-online) labeling the look as “fine and safe.” I tend to disagree. I thought the dress (by Marchesa) was very pretty, and avoiding overexposure (figuratively and literally) was a smart and calculated move by an actress we’ve seen a lot of these days.
