Nikki Furrer, the awesome proprietor of Pudd'nhead Books (check out Bryan Hollerbach's wonderful mini-review of her shop) included a cool news snippet in her newsletter this morning. A pair of Webster-based artists are starting a series of bimonthly art bazaars, which they've dubbed "Every Other Artist's Market:"
"The Every Other Artist's Market is the brainchild of Lisa Cox and Jo Hart, both artists from Webster Groves. Created to build awareness of the art community and help local artists find an affordable venue to show and sell their work-the Every Other Artist's Market will open with its first show on Saturday. The market will be open to the public on the second Saturday of every other month (hence the name). Each show will feature different art and artists including: jewelry, pottery, fiber, wood, paper art, paintings, sculpture, clothing, pastels, glass, soap, candles, and much more. The market will have a diverse variety of artists so no show will be the same. This is a unique opportunity for the community to support their local artists and share in their success. The additional 2009 show dates are: April 11, June 13, August 8, October 10 and December 12."
The markets are held at Old Orchard Gallery (37 Old Orchard, in Webster Groves), a stone's throw from Pudd'nhead. The first one is February 14, from 10 am to 5 p.m.; call 'em at 314-961-4433 for more info. --Stefene Russell
