This morning, Esther Boutique (1556 S. Lindbergh, 314-432-5300) announced that it will be closing its doors as of Friday, March 7.
The popular Ladue boutique has been open since September 2011 and is known for offering a variety of stylish brands including Rag & Bone, Haute Hippie, and J. Brand. Store owner Molly Brown envisioned Esther to be "a store where women could find both simplicity and uniqueness tucked away in a boutique that collaborates west and east coast fashions." Her overall goal, she explained, was to offer the St. Louis area an elevated shopping experience.
Brown explained in a statement on Facebook that since her move back to Seattle, where her husband Josh Brown was a kicker for the Seahawks from 2003 to 2007, she has not been able to be as committed to the store as she had hoped: "As you may know, my family and I moved back to the Seattle area a couple of years ago. I was committed to keeping the store open, with the help of the exceptional sales and dedicated management team, up until now was able to do that. However it is not fair to you, as well as my staff, that I keep the store open any longer when I cannot be present on a daily basis."
Brown also thanked customers for their support and said she would "take solace in knowning that you will continue to cherish the pieces you bought from the store and hope they will continue to bring you joy for years to come."
Esther will be hosting a 50 percent off sale on all regular-priced murchandise, with many items further reduced. Furniture, fixtures, and merchandising items will also be for sale.
