A late 70’s staple, the pleated skirt is undoubtedly making a major comeback for spring. So what’s different about it this time around? No heavy starching! The look is light, airy, and best shown in ladylike pastels. Pink, blue, and even purple are all on the radar for spring—let your inspiration be the lightest of Easter egg hues (click here for a great example).
If the ultra-feminine vibe isn’t your thing, a dose of near-neon color will also make this look pop—and the brighter the better! If you need a little help choosing a color palette, do a Google image search for "color blocking," and you will find endless suitable color combinations.
Finally, for those that prefer their fashion with a little edge, the pleated skirt goes amazingly well with leather. It’s the yin and yang of clothing options—and currently a fashion blogger staple. Feel free to rock faux leather, as today it is not only a preferred choice for ethical purposes, but also economical. I love Ivy Hill’s Big Buddha Montana Bag in navy for just the right dose of glam “tough girl” chic.
