Tales of Love and Loss in the Auld Sod: West End Players presents Brian Friel’s Lovers
Lovers, written by Brian Friel and directed by Jan Meyer, is a play about love with a distinctly Irish spin. While the first act introduces young love between two high school seniors who are soon to be parents, the second examines love found considerably later in life. Lovers portrays two very different relationships and seems to make a study of what it means to love, with the persistent challenges and joy that can be found no matter how happy the couple may seem at first. Is the pleasure worth the pain?
Cast includes: Betsy Bowman: Mag John Lampe: Joe Steve Callahan: narrator Kristy Wehrle: narrator Colin Nichols: Andy Theresa Masters: Hanna Suzanne Greenwald: Mrs. Wilson Liz Hopefl: Cissy Cassidy.
February 14 @ 8 p.m. (performances run through Feb. 23), Tickets are $20, Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Blvd., westendplayers.org.
