Louise Bourgeois, Untitled, 1997, Pencil on paper, 17 3/4 x 12 inches
Tomorrow night, William Shearburn opens a show with a mixy-matchy concept - drawings by sculptors - with a mixy-matchy roster that includes St. Louis' own Sue Eisler and the legendary Louise Bourgeois. The reception is right around the usual art show reception time, 6-8pm, at Shearburn Gallery in the Central West End, 4735 McPherson. Other artists included Joseph Havel, Ellsworth Kelly, Bruce Nauman, Ernest Trova, Kiki Smith, Bernar Venet, David Smith, Andy Goldsworthy, Donald Judd, Bruce Nauman, Claus Oldenburg, Fred Sandback, Richard Serra and Ursula von Rydingsvard. Way back when quail bangs were big, it was all the rage for painters to sculpt; as any Girl Guide or saddhu will tell you, everything is cyclical.
