Sometime in the next few weeks, Gina Reichert and Mitch Cope, the couple behind Detroit's awesome Design 99, will be passing through St. Louis. I haven't heard a date yet, and from what I can gather, they are still constructing their "Heartland Machine," which will look something like this:
From the PowerHouse blog:
"We are taking the Power House Project/Design 99 franchise on the road with THE HEARTLAND MACHINE: NOW UNDER CONSTRUCTION. This machine is a one of kind all terrain cultural contraption with tremendous extracting power. What is that? Were not sure, but we are sure that it’s gonna be awesome. Within the next couple weeks will be taking this beauty down through the Heartland, stopping along the way to collect information about and for the Heartland. Our trip will end in Miami where the Heartland Machine will become a part of CONVENTION an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami."
I sent 'em a note in hopes of getting a concrete date so that folks could get out to see the H.M., but haven't heard back yet. If I don't hear back, I'll tap Miss Claire-ian the Librarian, she who knows all things awesome about Detroit, and who furthermore has connections. Hopefully I'll be able to post a date and more info soon. --Stefene Russell
