So, I'm fluent enough in time lord mythology to know that in Goggle Productions' parody video above, "Time Lord Maybe," the lass (played by Yukeh, owner of the YouTube channel) who's smitten with the 10th Doctor is singing into a sonic screwdriver. I'm not a Who-head; I'm pure art geek, more Delia Derbyshire listener than David Tennant groupie. My sister, on the other hand, once built a six-foot-high Tardis costume from scratch for Halloween. So, I know my Whovian references, even though I got them through osmosis. If you are Doctor Who-ignorant, here's some help. And if you haven't heard Carly Rae Jepson's original pop tune in order to compare and contrast, it's here.
The really nifty thing about this little video: it was filmed in St. Louis (Dr. Who is sitting on Art Hill! And eating Ted Drewes! Or frozen custard, anyway). It's also threatening to go viral. It was written up over at IT World, mentioned on the BBC's website, and has gotten 50,000 hits so far.
The other good news, if IT World is any prognosticator: this will be the parody to finally kill off the "Call Me Maybe," parodies for good.
