Tomorrow night is "DADA Rocks With Decades," this year's vintage fashion-themed Dada Ball at the Contemporary (see more on that event over at Nicole's style blog). Everyone in the office is talking about it (we're sponsoring it) so I've got hairspray and crinolines on the brain, I guess. If you don't have a ticket to the party, you can get a vicarious glamor fix at Wash. U. tonight (details below) when Dada Ball 2010 Honorary Chairs Cameron Silver and Derek Blasberg lecture on "The Role of Media in Fashion in the 21st Century."
Though I'm sure no one will be representing this particular label, I had a lot of fun looking at these 1950s prom dresses on Couture Allure. They were manufactured by St. Louis' own Nadine Formals, which is still in operation as Bridal Originals. St. Louis is also currently home to one of the world's coolest vintage couture websites, Enokiworld, which has amazing stock (I didn't say that...Vogue did!) and some brilliant, brilliant fashion writing (that's me saying that. Though other people have said so, too). If you do have a ticket for the ball, but don't have your outfit ... well, it may offer some inspiration. So might this lecture.
So here's the skinny:
