The Black Rep - our 2008 pick for A-List theater company - is preparing for their 32nd season, with a lineup that includes A Song For Coretta by Atlanta-based poet Pearl Cleage and Tell Me Somethin' Good, a musical revue by Black Rep artistic director Ron Himes. This weekend, the theater company's holding audtions for next year's shows, which also include My Secret Language of Wishes (Cori Thomas' courtroom drama that wrangles with the complicated nature of race, disability and contemporary motherhood), In the Continuum (Nikkole Salter and Danai Gurira's examination of AIDS and HIV in the African-American community) and Blues in the Night (Sheldon Epps' musical revue, featuring the songs of Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington and others).
Audition-goers are asked to prepare "two contrasting contemporary monologues or a monologue and a song. Bring an 8 1/2 x 11 headshot and resume." Auditions will be held from 2-7pm (Equity hour is from 2-3) at The Black Rep offices at 1717 Olive, Fourth Floor.
