It’s no secret that strong brows have been and continue to be one of the biggest beauty trends of the last few seasons. But sometimes achieving a strong brow can be a bit more involved than just putting your tweezers to rest. Whatever shape, thickness or hue, every brow can be shaped to Brooke Sheilds-like perfection.
If you’re blonde like me, it doesn’t matter how much I let my brows grow, the chances of them becoming dark is about the same chance as me being able to get a tan—practically impossible. If you’re naturally blonde and you want your brows to stand out (no, your brows don’t have to perfectly match your hair color), a great alternative to filling in your brows is having them dyed. Almost every hair salon offers brow tinting, and your colorist will be able to mix the perfect dark color to compliment your specific shade of blonde. I have mine colored every 6 to 8 weeks, following my brow wax. Of course, touching up your brows between colorings is expected. Be sure to use a brow pencil that’s as close to your preferred brow color as possible (dyed or natural). Here are some of my favorite brow pencils:
1. Revlon Brow Fantasy: This two-in-one brow pencil and polisher keeps your brows looking their fullest and keeps them perfectly in place.
2. Lorac Creamy Brow Pencil: This brow pencil is great for filling in even the thinnest of brows. And thanks to its nifty brow brush, you’ll never have to worry about pesky fly-aways.
Blonde or brunette, you don’t have to let your brows grow out to the point of looking like a pair of caterpillars are setting up shop above your eyes. It’s okay to pluck or wax strays as well as between the brows, just be sure to stay with your natural shape. One of the biggest mistakes women make when shaping their brows is trying to get a shape contrary to their natural one. Make sure your brows extend from the inner corner of your eye to the end of your eye. Another common mistake is plucking too much off the front. It leaves you with a lasting look of worry, not flattering. Work with your shape, not against it.
