Sometimes finding the right shampoo for your hair type can be a little bit like looking for Mr. Right. Yes, one brand might boast shinier, more voluminous hair, but in reality it’s nothing more than a generic shampoo masked in a well-coiffed bottle. So when it came to my thick, chaotic, kinky hair, finding the right shampoo was a bit of a challenge. First I tried going organic, then to the higher-end product, both left my hair unmanageable, tired and completely dissatisfied. Ready to dump shampoo completely and just douse my hair in conditioner during each shower, along came Aveda’s Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo. Packed with quinoa protein, coconut oil and babassu, this shampoo lives up to its hype. Even without the assistance of my trusty Frederic Fekkai conditioner, Damage Remedy leaves my hair silky smooth and drastically reduces my irritating tangles. Highly recommended to anyone with damaged, color-treated hair or those with copious amounts of unruly tresses, Damage Remedy is sure to leave your hair rejuvenated and much more manageable. And at $25 per 8.5 fl oz bottle, it’s hard to settle for anything less.
