Metro Arts in Transit and the Poetry Society of America are now accepting submissions for the 2009 Poetry in Motion competition. Even if gas prices might lead one to think it's 1999, people seem to have taken a big shine to public transit and have refused to give up their Metro passes. I can guarantee a MetroLink placard will gain a poet a wider audience than the average little magazine—and that was probably true even when public transit ridership was at a low ebb. (The pioneer of this program, poet Molly Peacock, realized this years ago when she started posting sonnets and ghazals on New York City buses and subways.) As a bit of laignnappe/inspiration, here's a bit from the Huffington Post on the magical powers of poetry and a little electronic toolbox of poetic forms. —Stefene Russell
